MADIBA LIVES

NELSON 'KHULU TATA MADIBA' MANDELA 1918 - 2013

once upon a time, a friend of mines drunkenly said of all the people he personally knew, i was the most gifted with words.. bearing that most dubious compliment in mind..

i sincerely believe there's literally NOTHING i or any other can in this moment or any other craft that will adequately capture the sense of loss gratitude respect and reverence owed a demi-god among men, one embodying the very essence and strength of the human spirit to overcome any obstacle namely insurmountable hate and the most deeply rooted oppression, whilst setting an example to the world and leading a nation out of blinding darkness and unspeakable evil.

today what can be definitively described as greatest man of the 21st century passed his vast and heretofore unyielding energy onto a higher universal plane of existence.

as a cub i never believed in santa but i believed in you g.. i wrote you countless unsent letters in hopes you'd rise out of imprisonment and come rescue my hairline for xmas or perhaps whenever you had spare time of course AFTER you freed south africa and left a lasting image in the eyes of the world that a mans spirit is truly unconquerable and that a son of africa is capable of uniting and leading a nation..

quite an unfair request to be honest as in hindsight anyone who knows me knows even at that tender age my precocious five head was beyond redemption and some would say a truly lost cause..

everything else though.. all things else.. for madiba? lightwork.
for even at your lowest ebb.. you refused to believe the notion of "lost causes" held any credence, to you the words held no meaning other than 'something to overcome'

now a fully grown manchild i still dont believe in santa and i've since grown into that hairline.. somewhat.
whats more i struggle every waking day and fail at most attempts to live up to even a planck-times worth of your noble efforts since being gifted to this earth.

still, though i always seem to fall an everests depth short of your standard.. there's one example you set i cannot will not fail to follow.. perseverance.
never to give up, even when the hour is darkest never surrender, there is always hope, always.

when I was but a pup i thought madiba would live forever.

i still do.
